Thank you for
visiting the Brockport Police Department web site.
The Brockport Police Department is a 24 hour, 7 day a
week, full service public safety service protecting the incorporated Village
of Brockport, New York. Established by Village Proclamation in 1829, when
“police constables” were hired to maintain order in the booming Erie Canal
community, the Department has grown to include 11 full time police officers,
two part-time officers, and two civilian staff members.
Since 1829, the Brockport Police Department has
consistently evolved to meet the challenges of policing a diverse and
growing community such as ours. Today the men and women of this Department
are proud to be among the 12 police agencies in Monroe County to have
achieved the State of New York’s highest standard,
Accreditation. Monroe County is the First
in New York to have all police services within its borders Accredited.
The Police Department serves nearly 20,000 people each
day – approximately 8,000 year-round residents, a similar number of resident
and commuter students at the State University College at Brockport, and
hundreds of people for whom Brockport is a waypoint to their homes, shopping
needs, and workplaces. Nestled in a bend of the Erie Canal - with State
Routes 19 and 31 passing through the Village - vehicle, vessel, and bicycle
traffic constantly stream through the center of town.
An eclectic mix of Victorian charm, educational
excellence, and cultural diversity; this is the unique environment that we
call the Village of Brockport. This is a home, a community, a marketplace,
a crossroads, and a place of learning that we are proud to protect and
serve.
